Cleaners Knightsbridge Health and Safety Policy
Cleaners Knightsbridge is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, clients, contractors and visitors who may be affected by our cleaning activities. We recognise our duty to manage health and safety risks in a responsible and systematic manner and to promote a culture of safety across all our operations.
This policy applies to all employees of Cleaners Knightsbridge, whether permanent, temporary or subcontracted, and to all locations where we deliver cleaning services, including client premises, commercial facilities and residential properties.
Our Health and Safety Objectives
Our primary objectives are to prevent accidents and work-related ill health, to reduce hazards associated with cleaning activities, and to ensure continual improvement in our health and safety performance. We aim to achieve this by identifying risks, implementing effective controls, and providing clear guidance and training to everyone involved in our work.
Management Responsibilities
Senior management at Cleaners Knightsbridge has overall responsibility for the implementation of this Health and Safety Policy. Management will provide adequate resources, information and supervision to ensure that health and safety standards are maintained and improved. This includes ensuring that appropriate risk assessments are carried out, control measures are implemented and reviewed, and employees are consulted on matters affecting their health and safety.
Managers and supervisors are responsible for monitoring work practices, enforcing safe systems of work, responding promptly to reported hazards or incidents, and setting a positive example by following all health and safety rules themselves.
Employee Responsibilities
All employees of Cleaners Knightsbridge have a duty to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for the safety of others who may be affected by their actions. Employees must follow company procedures, use equipment and materials safely, wear the required personal protective equipment, and cooperate with instructions and training provided.
Employees are expected to report any hazards, unsafe practices, near misses, accidents or ill health to their supervisor as soon as possible so that corrective action can be taken. No employee should attempt any task for which they have not been trained or which they believe cannot be carried out safely.
Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work
Cleaners Knightsbridge carries out risk assessments for all significant hazards associated with our cleaning services. These hazards may include slips, trips and falls, manual handling, use of cleaning chemicals, operation of cleaning machinery, working at height and working alone on client premises.
Based on these assessments, we establish safe systems of work that specify how tasks must be performed, what equipment should be used and what precautions must be taken. These procedures are communicated to employees through induction, training and ongoing supervision, and are reviewed regularly or when working conditions change.
Chemical Safety and COSHH
We recognise the potential risks associated with the use of cleaning agents and other substances. All chemicals used by Cleaners Knightsbridge are assessed and controlled in line with relevant safety guidance. Safety information is obtained from manufacturers and is made available to employees.
Employees receive training on the correct storage, dilution, use and disposal of cleaning chemicals, as well as on recognising signs of exposure and taking appropriate first aid measures. Chemicals must be kept in their original containers with labels intact and must never be mixed unless specifically instructed by the manufacturer.
Personal Protective Equipment
Cleaners Knightsbridge provides appropriate personal protective equipment to employees based on risk assessments and the tasks they undertake. This may include gloves, eye protection, masks, protective footwear and other items where necessary.
Employees are required to use the equipment provided, to keep it in good condition and to report any defects or loss immediately. Replacement equipment will be supplied where necessary to ensure continued protection at work.
Training, Information and Supervision
All new employees receive a health and safety induction when they join Cleaners Knightsbridge, covering company procedures, emergency arrangements and safe use of equipment and chemicals. Further task-specific training is provided to ensure that employees are competent to carry out their duties safely.
Refresher training is arranged as needed, especially when new equipment, substances or working methods are introduced. Supervisors monitor work practices and provide ongoing guidance, coaching and feedback to maintain high safety standards.
Emergency Procedures and First Aid
Cleaners Knightsbridge ensures that employees understand the emergency arrangements relevant to the premises where they work, including fire evacuation routes, assembly points and emergency contacts. Employees must familiarise themselves with these procedures at each site and follow local instructions at all times.
First aid provisions are maintained to an appropriate level for the work being carried out. Employees are informed of the location of first aid supplies and any appointed first aiders at their place of work, and are encouraged to report all injuries, however minor, so that they can be recorded and investigated if necessary.
Incident Reporting and Investigation
All accidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences involving Cleaners Knightsbridge employees or operations must be reported immediately to a manager or supervisor. Accurate records are kept to help identify trends and areas for improvement.
Incidents are investigated to determine their causes and to prevent recurrence. Where appropriate, risk assessments and working procedures will be reviewed and updated. Findings from investigations may be shared with employees during briefings or training sessions to promote learning and raise awareness.
Health, Welfare and Wellbeing
Cleaners Knightsbridge recognises the importance of promoting the general health and wellbeing of our employees. We aim to prevent work-related ill health caused by repetitive tasks, manual handling, prolonged standing, use of chemicals and other factors.
Where possible, work is organised to minimise excessive physical strain, and employees are trained on safe lifting, correct posture and awareness of early signs of discomfort or ill health. We encourage open communication so that any concerns about health or workload can be discussed and addressed promptly.
Consultation and Continuous Improvement
Cleaners Knightsbridge is committed to consulting with employees on health and safety matters. We value feedback on working conditions, equipment, procedures and training, and we encourage suggestions for improving safety practices.
This Health and Safety Policy is reviewed regularly and whenever there are significant changes in our activities, legislation or best practice guidance. Updates are communicated to employees, and training is provided where necessary to ensure ongoing understanding and compliance.
By working together and following the principles set out in this policy, Cleaners Knightsbridge aims to maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone involved in or affected by our cleaning services.
